DR MEAKER ALBUM LAUNCH (LIVE)! Sat Nov 30 (10pm-4am) - The South London Soul Train are truly proud to present the London show for the release of the stunning new album DISTORTED SUN by soul and bass heads + positive stage stormers, Bristol's finest, the Mighty DR MEAKER (LIVE) and sonically direct + special guest TERRI WALKER. DR MEAKER joined by your righteous funk/soul and hop sling host, with the absolute most JAZZHEADCHRONIC for a full evening of guaranteed dancefloor action at PECKHAM LEVELS.

Beware the soul shrapnel as the dancefloor goes BOOM!

DR MEAKER (LIVE) - Band on stage around midnight (90 min live set)

Dr Meaker started their journey as a Bristol-based sound system comprising of electronic and acoustic musicians. The band soon built up a strong following and quickly gained the attention of the BBC Radio 1, who gave their track ‘Rubber Gloves’ it’s debut.

They then entered the Glastonbury Festival Unsigned Competition and were the outright winners of the Dance Music category. This won them a prime time slot in the Dance Village at Glastonbury. After their killer set, a flurry of gigs and festivals followed and the band released their debut single, ‘Moving And Grooving’.

By 2014, the band released a hugely successful single with Circus Records, which led to a full album record deal. ‘Right Back’ propelled the band into mainstream success, with a UK top 40 dance hit and bags of commercial airplay.

After a flurry of licensing offers and remixes, Dr Meaker dropped their second studio LP, ‘Dirt and Soul’ in 2016. It went straight to No. 3 in the iTunes Electronic charts (only kept off the top spot by James Blake and DJ Shadow) and it was the No. 1 selling Drum and Bass album in the world.

The band have been non-stop touring and recently saw their international debuts in The Netherlands, Switzerland, Los Angeles and Ghana. The band have clearly stated that their mission is “to take Live Drum and Bass across the World, Bristol Style!”

2023 has already seen them play over 20 festivals including, Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown Fair, Isle Of Wight, Green man and Shambala Festival, to name a few.

A new album is on the horizon for 2024

For Dr Meaker, 2024 knows no bounds.

The South London Soul Train, taking all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Brass, Breaks, Bop and Hop to Motown, Club Classics and Anthems.

However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this one's for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Souuuuuuuul.

The South London Soul Train, Runs 11pm - 4am at premier venues across London town on the last Saturday of each month. Entry £5-13 Adv from RA or £15 OTD at PECKHAM LEVELS.
