Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking an exceptional Chief Engineer to guide their Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) department. The APNT business has a distinguished track record in producing GPS Anti-Jam and Anti-Spoofing technology for diverse applications in land, sea, and air. This permanent position emphasises technical governance and engineering delivery from the initial concept through to product end-of-life.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure technical integrity of programme work products, including safety assessments, requirement definition, architecture, interface definition, and product certificationBalance technical, cost, and schedule risksChair review boards such as risk reviews, failure reviews, and design reviewsAct as the primary technical contact for APNT with key stakeholders, including customers and suppliersProvide clear technical leadership, balancing performance with cost and schedule objectivesEngage in technical problem solving in development and manufacturing domainsMotivate and coach Engineering team members, setting clear technical expectationsSupport the definition of technology strategy, roadmaps, and product offeringsAssist in the development of bids and proposals for new productsMentor engineers for technical leadershipChampion process maturity and continuous improvementJob Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subjectStrong technical background in mission-critical equipment design, qualification, and certification, including relevant assurance processes and military standardsSignificant experience in technical leadership across the engineering lifecycle, including Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechanical, Reliability, and Manufacturing EngineeringKnowledge of the APNT market, including key customers, equipment suppliers, and stakeholdersProven communication skills, adept at navigating senior stakeholders in business and industryTrack record of strong engineering leadership, delivering results through structured problem solvingHighly dependable, autonomous, and results-oriented approachHolder, or ability to achieve, SC ClearanceOn the path to achieving, or have already achieved, Chartered Engineer statusWillingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe, and the USAbout Our Client:
