The Leisure Centre Assistant supports the daily operations of the leisure centre, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors. This role involves customer service, facility maintenance, and assistance with activities and events.
Key Responsibilities:
1. *Customer Service:*
- Greet and assist customers, providing information about services, schedules, and programs.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues as necessary.
- Process membership registrations, renewals, and payments.
- Conduct tours of the facility for potential new members.
2. *Facility Maintenance:*
- Ensure all areas of the centre are clean, tidy, and safe.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including locker rooms, pool areas, and gym equipment.
- Monitor and replenish supplies such as towels, toiletries, and cleaning materials.
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the appropriate personnel.
3. *Activity and Event Support:*
- Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment for activities and events.
- Support instructors and coaches during classes and sessions.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and stored properly.
- Provide supervision during activities to ensure safety and adherence to rules.
4. *Health and Safety:*
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and protocols.
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and administering first aid if qualified.
- Monitor the pool area (if applicable) to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
5. *Administrative Duties:*
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, membership, and incidents.
- Schedule bookings for facilities and equipment.
- Assist with promotional activities and marketing efforts.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the management.
6. *Team Collaboration:*
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the centre.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Support new staff and volunteers by providing guidance and assistance.
Qualifications:
- *Education:*
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications in leisure management, sports science, or a related field are desirable.
- *Experience:*
- Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a leisure or fitness environment, is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic proficiency with computers and office software.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Possible exposure to pool chemicals and cleaning agents.
