The Physiotherapy Assistant is responsible for assisting physiotherapists in providing therapeutic services to patients. The role involves direct patient care, supporting therapy sessions, and performing various administrative and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation of the physiotherapy department.
Key Responsibilities
- *Patient Care:*
- Assist patients with exercises and mobility training under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
- Help patients prepare for treatment sessions.
- Monitor and record patients' progress and responses to therapy.
- *Therapy Support:*
- Set up and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas.
- Provide support during therapy sessions, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Educate patients on proper use of therapy equipment and techniques for home exercises.
- *Administrative Duties:*
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- *Environmental Maintenance:*
- Keep therapy areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Sanitize equipment and treatment spaces after each use.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
### Qualifications
- *Education:*
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized physiotherapy assistant training program is preferred.
- *Experience:*
- Previous experience in a healthcare or physiotherapy setting is an advantage.
- Familiarity with physiotherapy techniques and equipment is beneficial.
- *Skills:*
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- *Certifications:*
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Additional certifications as required by the specific healthcare facility.
### Working Conditions
- *Physical Requirements:*

- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and assisting patients.
- Ability to lift and move therapy equipment and assist patients as needed.
