The Radiography Assistant supports radiographers in the delivery of diagnostic imaging services. This role involves preparing patients and equipment for procedures, assisting during imaging sessions, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. *Patient Preparation and Support:*
- Greet and assist patients, providing clear explanations of procedures to alleviate anxiety.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring they are appropriately dressed and positioned.
- Assist patients in moving to and from the imaging table, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients during procedures and provide support as needed.
2. *Equipment and Room Preparation:*
- Prepare imaging equipment and examination rooms before procedures.
- Ensure that all necessary supplies and materials are available and ready for use.
- Assist radiographers in positioning equipment and patients for optimal imaging results.
3. *Procedure Assistance:*
- Assist radiographers during imaging procedures by handling equipment and providing necessary items.
- Follow precise instructions to ensure the correct positioning and exposure settings.
- Help in transferring images to the appropriate systems for review and analysis.
4. *Administrative Duties:*
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and procedure details.
- Input data into electronic health records and imaging systems.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the department.
- Handle telephone and in-person inquiries, providing information and assistance as needed.
5. *Quality Control and Safety:*
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including radiation protection protocols.
- Wear and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Regularly clean and disinfect equipment and examination rooms.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to senior staff.
6. *Training and Development:*
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education opportunities.
- Keep up to date with developments in radiography and imaging technology.
- Assist in training new staff and students as required.
7. *Team Collaboration:*
- Work collaboratively with radiographers, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality imaging services.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions regarding patient care and department operations.
- Provide support and assistance to colleagues as needed.
### Qualifications:
- *Education:*
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Further education or training in a healthcare-related field is advantageous.
- *Experience:*
- Previous experience in a healthcare or radiography setting is desirable but not always required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic health records.
