The Recreation Assistant supports the delivery of recreational programs and activities, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all participants. This role involves assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of recreational events, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. *Program Support:*
- Assist in the planning and delivery of recreational programs and activities.
- Set up and break down equipment and facilities for activities and events.
- Supervise participants during activities to ensure safety and adherence to rules.
- Provide instruction and support to participants as needed.
2. *Customer Service:*
- Greet and assist customers, providing information about programs, schedules, and services.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues as necessary.
- Assist with registration and payment processing for programs and events.
- Conduct tours of the facility for new and potential participants.
3. *Facility Maintenance:*
- Ensure all areas of the recreation facility are clean, tidy, and safe.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including gym areas, sports courts, and common areas.
- Monitor and replenish supplies such as towels, toiletries, and cleaning materials.
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the appropriate personnel.
4. *Health and Safety:*
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and protocols.
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and administering first aid if qualified.
- Monitor activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
5. *Administrative Duties:*
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, membership, and incidents.
- Schedule bookings for facilities and equipment.
- Assist with promotional activities and marketing efforts.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the management.
6. *Team Collaboration:*
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the recreation facility.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Support new staff and volunteers by providing guidance and assistance.
Qualifications:
- *Education:*
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications in recreation management, sports science, or a related field are desirable.
- *Experience:*
- Previous experience in a customer service or recreational role is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic proficiency with computers and office software.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
