Personal Assistant/Carer required urgently
Seeking a reliable, vigilant, trustworthy, energetic, down-to-earth and caring personal assistant for a visually impaired elderly woman.
She also has poor mobility (due to severe arthritis in the knees and neck).
£13.15 P/H
18.5 hours a week.
Mon: 10 -2 (4 hours)
Tues: 9 - 2 (4 hours)
Wed: 10 - 2. (4hours)
Thurs: 8-10 (2 hours) (Must be from 8am or 9am) Can make it 3 hours if 2 is inconvenient. Then Friday would be 3.5 hours.
Fri : 10 - 2:30pm (4.5 hours)
Family can make small adjustments if needed, Thursdays must be from 8am or 9am - as Ms Kabba-Selle has her weekly leg ulcer appointments then.
Duties include:
- Cleaning house (daily hoover, mop and cleaning surfaces), Kitchen, toilet, bathroom, her bedroom, living room & landing - As she is visually impaired, she often makes a mess without realising).
- Administering her medication daily with a meal.
- Preparing/cooking healthy meals.
- Laundry (Every other day).
- Operating the smart tv and putting on her favourite youtube shows.
- Buying groceries from nearby supermarkets when needed.
- Emotional care (Friendly chats/ being a companion).
- Assisting with short 15 min exercise on her pedal machine daily.
- Taking her (and bringing her back) to any medical appointments that she
may have via Uber/cab.
- Taking her to her GP for frequent monthly health check-ups (blood tests,
blood pressure etc).
- Assisting her with picking up incoming calls on her mobile, making phone
calls & reading messages/playing voice notes.
- Doing any online shopping using apps on iphone.
- Checking her account balance using banking app on her iphone.
- Reading her letters & filing them in the folder.
- Query any letters that aren’t understood by phone or email (e.g. council tax,
Thames water etc.) being a strong advocate for her when adequate service
being provided.
- Filling in forms when needed.
- Keeping her in the know of any supportive grant schemes she could sign up to.
- Making phone calls to the housing association to report any repairs.
- Withdrawing money for her when she needs to.
- Personal care
- Assistance with getting dressed.
- Help with getting in the shower
- Help with putting on pressure socks (as she gets re-occurring leg ulcers).
. Light rub/massage of feet & shoulders with heat rub.
- Taking her or signing her up to any visually impaired friendly; social or
leisure activities.
A satisfactory DBS check and good references are essential to this post.
