PLEASE READ!!!!
If you want chicks they are £10 each and minimum order is at least 2 as they get lonely.
(No chicks left now - unless you want to pre-order (Minimum 10 unless I have multiple orders at the same time)
If you are buying chicks, especially for kids, then please note 70% chance they are going to grow up and become roosters, and you might even get an aggressive one!
My hens:
(Peeking Bantams - layers) are £40 each
(Silkies - layers) are £45 each
Roosters (lots to choose from) £20 each
Baby quails £5 each (unsexed)
Fully grown quail pairs (1 boy and 1 girl (laying) £15
Female Quails £10
I have some rare miniture gold silkie roosters (shown in the first pic) which are currently around 6 months but will go very well with the peeking bantam hens or other small hens.
NB: Chicks take 3 weeks and I'm only taking pre-orders right now.
Priority goes to those who order them with boxes, as I often hatch a few extra, and when the pre order is ready, buyers are notifies how many have hatched and they usually take the extra 2 or 3 chicks.
You will need to buy or have ready at home:
Heating Lamps
chick crumbs from the pet shop
Drinkers and feeders
Additional chicks are available at £10 each.
MAINLY ROOSTERS LEFT NOW.
I also have some beautiful Silkie Roosters
Chicks will need to be kept indoors for at least 2 months.
Heat lamp can usually be turned off after 1 month.
Please note:
YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING BEFORE BUYING CHICKS!
There is a hell of a lot of responsibility when looking after chicks/hens:
1. If buying chicks, you need a proper set up ie heat lamps / brooders at various watts and levels depending on age, proper feed depending on age, vitamins etc
2. Chicks are typically ready to go outside at 3 to 4 months depending on the type of chick, weather and other factors (you can use common sense here).
3. When outdoors you need to make sure their coop is predator proof. Those £100 coops you can get on Amazon/ManoMano, foxes can get into those!
4. Chicks especially silkies can be very difficult to sex, so you may not even know you have roosters until 4 months time when they start crowing, so be prepared for that.
We have hatched 10 eggs with just one rooster and other times we hatched 7 eggs and all turned out to be roosters! I'm fairly confident I can predict the Bantams sex at about a month, but silkies I have no idea.
5. These are very social animals and constantly want attention, if you have just a couple of chicks, then if you take one out to stroke and play with, then the other one will constantly cry, because it wants it's buddy back! So be aware if you just have 2 or 3 young chicks and they don't make it then the lonely one will constantly be crying!
6.Silkies are super friendly, but due to their hair covering their eyes and also their nature, they are prone to predators!
7.Bantams are small chickens and lay small eggs (but super delicious)!
Thanks for reading.
