I professionally deliver, for all exam boards, A Level Physics (AQA, Pre-U, Edexcel specialized), GCSE Maths (Edexcel specialized), GCSE Physics (any) and GCSE triple/double Science (AQA specialized), both online and in my fully equipped office/classroom in Winchmore Hill (N21), next to Southgate station (Piccadilly line). I provide/choose the resources for you depending on your level and your examination board (AQA, Pre-U, Edexcel, OCR) including tailor-fit tests (based on past paper questions only) and reviewing exam papers. If you have a last-minute exam at school, I will have the appropriate material and I will instantly send/print notes, worksheets etc.
My specialisation in Educational Technology and Action Research leads into learning optimization for my students. For this, I use digital content, interactive simulations and plenty of examples. To choose these scaffoldings I use my knowledge about developing and building on the alternative student ideas, taking also in account the cognitive needs of each one of my students.
** Last academic year (2023-24) was tremendously successful as 85% of my GCSE students achieved either a 9 or 8 (new grading system) in all Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and ALL my A-Level students achieved either an A* or A in GCE Physics. **
I specialize in tutoring students attending Independent Schools such as St Paul’s, Latymer Upper, Highgate, St Albans, Mill Hill, Haberdasher’s as well as Grammar Schools (selective) such as Latymer, QE Boys, St Michael’s, Henrietta Barnett, Dame Alice Owen's. I also specialize in tutoring students attending secondary local schools such as Ashmole, Southgate, Highlands, East Barnet, St Andrew the Apostle, Compton, Winchmore, Chase Community, Enfield Grammar and County etc.
Since the Covid era, I have expanded my online teaching which now covers students across the UK. I currently teach in all years 7-13. I also have experience teaching students with special needs (mainly dyslexia and some minor learning difficulties).
Prospective students receive a FREE of charge 30-minutes diagnostic lesson (absolutely no obligation to start lessons) and a following consultation with their parents/guardians so I can understand their needs and goals and tailor specific lesson plans to achieve them. I will also guide and keep you informed of the progress all the way.
My rate, per hour, will depend on the level and the number of students attending.
Personal Information:
I have a B.Sc. Honours degree in Physics and Maths and also a Master's degree in Science Education. I hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and an Enhanced CRB Disclosure Certificate (DBS) as every teacher must have one for the safety of your child.
I started my career as a researcher for Plasma Boundary Group at the European Nuclear Fusion Reactor (Joint European Torus) in Oxford. This academic work, in which I have been involved with extensive experimental activities, allows me to teach Physics in depth and better prepare students for their exams.
Later on, I travelled abroad to work as a Physics, Maths and Science teacher and after a few years I returned to London, working both in Independent schools such as Latymer Upper in Hammersmith and mainstream schools. At the same time, I founded my successful Tutoring Centre in which I now work exclusively. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
Leo
